Estate Planning

Your Planning Session: The First Step Toward Peace of Mind

At Legacy Gurus™, every estate plan begins with a complimentary planning session designed to help us truly understand you, your family, your values, and your goals. During this session, you’ll meet with an attorney who will guide you through the process, helping you get more organized than ever before while explaining each part of the estate planning journey. We reserve up to two hours for these meetings to ensure there’s ample time for thoughtful discussion, but if an hour is all you have, that works too. Our goal is to make the process unrushed and comfortable, with no distractions or interruptions.

Throughout the session and beyond, we prioritize education. Using analogies, stories, and plain language, we demystify legal concepts to help you make informed decisions with confidence. By the time you sign your documents, you’ll have a complete, comprehensive estate plan—and a trusted relationship with a firm committed to being there when your family needs support the most.

This initial planning session is designed for you to choose a plan that works for you and for you to decide if our firm is a good fit for you and your family. There is no obligation to work with us. If you'd like to book a planning session. You can call our office 978-351-8383 OR book a call now to find a time that works for you.

Wills

A will is a written document where you explain what should happen to your money, belongings, and property after you die. You can also name someone to take care of any minor children or pets.

A will only takes effect when you die.

Revocable Trusts Irrevocable Trusts (Medicaid Trusts)

This is another type of "box" for your assets, but once you put things in, you can’t take them back or make big changes easily. It’s often used to protect your assets so you might qualify for help paying for long-term care, like nursing home costs, while still making sure your family benefits from what you’ve saved.

Revocable Trusts

A Trust holds your assets (like your house or savings account) in a kind of "box" while you're alive. You’re in charge of the box, and nothing in your life changes while you are alive and able to manage your things. You can change or take things out of it anytime. After you pass away, the "box" helps smoothly transfer your assets to your loved ones without going through court.

Supplemental or Special Needs Trusts

This is a special "box" designed to help someone with disabilities. It holds money or assets for them without affecting their ability for needs-based government aid or benefiting from government programs like Medicaid or Social Security.

Incapacity Documents

These are documents that legally appointment someone who can make decisions about your health, money, and daily needs if you become too sick or injured to decide for yourself. These documents can legally explain your wishes. Examples include a health care directive/health care proxy, or power of attorney (sometimes called a Durable Power of Attorney or Financial Power of Attorney).

Check Ins & Check Ups

An often overlooked part of estate planning is to make sure to have a relationship with an attorney that will be their for your family when something happens to you, and who will look over your plan every so often to make sure it is still legally sound and to make sure it still works when you need it to. At Legacy Gurus, we commit to checking in with you every three years (or sooner if needed) to make sure your plan will work for you and your family when needed.
