Hello, I am Kacey!

My path to the legal field and Legacy Gurus was unexpected, but my life experiences have informed my passion and commitment.

Prior to entering the legal field, I spent 16 years working in customer service. During my 6-year career in retail banking, I experienced firsthand the repercussions of lack of estate planning and/or communication. The scene would always play out the same way: someone would enter the bank, shuffling to the teller line with a defeated look on their face, asking if their mom/dad/sibling/friend/loved one had an account with us and whether we could check, in a way that made clear that they’d recited this script before. I couldn’t help but think that there must be a better way, and I am happy that I can help create different outcomes for our clients by helping them get proper planning in place and create an inventory of assets so that when something happens, everything is documented and streamlined.

In 2021, my mom received a stage-4 cancer diagnosis and was advised to get her affairs in order. She had done planning already when I was a young teenager but had never updated that plan, and her attorney had never contacted her to see if changes were needed. In addition to navigating her onslaught of medical appointments and physically feeling awful, my mom had to scramble to update her estate planning documents. When the new documents were signed, I saw the weight physically lift off of her so that she could focus on getting better (which she did!) At Legacy Gurus, I have the privilege of helping to create this peace of mind for our clients.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Massachusetts– Lowell, proving that you don’t always end up in your field of study. I entered the legal field as Client Services Director and learned skills on the job to become an estate planning paralegal, fully utilizing my attention to detail and desire for accuracy. Attorney Amanda Wright and I are co-owners of Drafting Guru, LLC, a company that is elevating the legal profession by drafting quality documents for attorneys and teaching other paralegals to do the same.

I live in Haverhill, MA with my fiance Chris and our two mutts from Sweet Paws Rescue, Wyatt and Celia. In my free time, I enjoy running, snuggling with my dogs, and browsing thrift stores.
